Types of Lenses

Single vision

Single Vision

Single vision lens has the same focal power throughout the lens. It is prescribed to correct only one field of vision, like shortsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia.

• Distance

If you only have problems with seeing clearly from a distance, such as watching movies, driving, etc., you can select this type of lenses. These lenses are able to be worn all day long.

• Computer

If you work all day long on the computer or any other devices with screens at arm length, and have the symptoms like headaches, loss of focus, burning and tired eyes, double or blurred vision, you may need computer glasses to avoid excessive focusing effort imposed on your eyes. However, to order computer glasses, you need to provide us with a value for INT ADD which your eye doctor wrote on your prescription.

• Reading

If you spend most of your day looking at close-up objects, such as reading books, reports, documents, etc. and find it hard to see clearly, you can select this type of lenses.

As to those aged over 40 and planning to buy computer glasses and reading glasses in single vision, we suggest you buy bifocals as you may have some degree of presbyopia.

Bifocal

Bifocal

If your eye doctor suggests you buy a pair of bifocals or if you have difficulty seeing things clearly from both close up and distance, like reading newspapers and watching movies, you can select bifocals which contain two focal powers to correct your near and distance vision in one single lens. With bifocals, you don't need to switch back and forth between two pairs of glasses.

Not quite sure about whether you need bifocals or not? You can check your prescription. If there's a number written for NEAR ADD or INT ADD on your prescription, it indicates that you need bifocals.

Varifocal

Varifocal

If you can't see clearly at any distance, like reading books, reading your computer screen and watching movies, it indicates that you need varifocals which combine sections for reading, intermediate and distance in one single lens. If you have already had bifocals, we suggest you update them with our Freeform varifocals. Check out the strengths of our Freeform varifocals:

  • Smooth transition from distance vision down to reading, avoiding image jump
  • No visible line across the lens surface
  • Stylish cosmetic looking
  • Comfortable and convenient for all day wear.
